Who is this for?
The Level 3 Award In First Aid at Work (RQF) is the most popular first aid qualification. This course is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. This course is also the minimum requirement for the Close Protection Operative qualification.
The QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is ideal for those employers that need to meet higher requirements of first aid regulations; typically those working in shops and offices, workshops and Close Protection. The learner will develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to deal effectively with a range of emergencies in the workplace requiring first aid.
Pre-Requisites:
This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to support individuals carrying out a first aid role in the workplace.
Attendees will be required to demonstrate First Aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.
Course Elements:
This qualification consists of 2 mandatory units:
Unit 1 Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
LO1 The learner will understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
LO2 The learner will be able to assess an incident
LO3 The learner will be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty that is not breathing normally
LO4 The learner will be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty that is breathing normally
LO5 The learner will be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
LO6 The learner will be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
LO7 The learner will know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
Unit 2 Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
LO1 The learner will be able to conduct a secondary survey
LO2 The learner will be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
LO3 The learner will be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
LO4 The learner will know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
LO5 The learner will know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
LO6 The learner will know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
LO7 The learner will know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected poisoning
LO8 The learner will be able to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
LO9 The learner will know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
